On the map of Russia, the Oryol region occupies a special place, being located in the European part of our country on the Central Russian Upland. The territory of the region is an elevated plain, cut by river valleys and ravines. Numerous rivers belong to the Oka, Desna and Don basins. Here is the source of the Oka River. The unique territory of the Oryol region is another historical, cultural and spiritual center of Russia. A special place in it is occupied by monasteries, temples and holy places, including the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Like Noah's Ark amidst the raging sea of everyday temptation stands the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Glazunovka. Those who want to forget earthly burdens, at least for a few minutes, and strengthen faith and hope come here.

Information about the start and end times of construction

The revival of spirituality in the village of Glazunovka began with a request from residents to transfer the building of the old hospital into a temple. According to the submitted application, the hospital building was transferred for improvement. After this, the renovation of the building began, and by April 7, 1992 it was completed. On the second day of Holy Easter, the temple was consecrated in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Bishop Paisius (now deceased) of Oryol and Bryansk was appointed rector by priest Fr. Leonid Melnik. The priest arrived to an almost empty place. The first service was performed by Father Leonid on December 19, 1993, on the feast of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The building was renovated for two years. They covered the roof, put a fur coat on the walls of the building, erected a dome and a cross. From the day of the consecration of the small church, Divine services were performed there.

On August 5, 1996, construction began on a new church on the feast of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God, according to the design of the architect M. B. Skorobogatov, which was reviewed and approved by Bishop Paisius of the Oryol-Livensk Diocese, on a small plot adjacent to the church. On the same day a pit was dug.

The main help came from the parishioners of the temple: Zakharova A., Tikhonova A., Pokhlebaev V., Filatov V., Karpova V., Kuzyakina M. and others. In 1997, the foundation blocks were laid, the main foreman was Anatoly Pimenov. Throughout the construction, help came from the parishioners of the temple. On September 21, 1997, the laying of the stone was consecrated by Archbishop Pasy of Oryol and Liven.

In May 1998, the walls of the new temple began to be erected. The walls of the temple were laid out in three weeks. In 1999, they began laying the cornice. Immediately the craftsmen covered the roof with iron. In 2000, the laying of the temple dome began. In May 2001, the vault was built, the dome was covered with iron, and a lantern was made. In the fall, they plastered the inside of the temple. In winter, heating was installed. Gorshkov Victor and his son Pavel made a carved staircase to the choir and the frame of the iconostasis. In May 2002, they began plastering the outside of the temple. In three days they plastered and whitewashed the dome of the temple. On September 19, 2002, a gilded cross was installed by a team from the city of Oryol. On this day, asphalt was laid on the temple grounds.

On September 21, 2002, the new temple was consecrated. The rite of consecration was led by the Secretary of the Diocese, Archpriest John Trinity. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a prayer service was served and a religious procession took place. At the end of the prayer service, many years were proclaimed. Secretary of the Diocese Archpriest Fr. John of the Trinity delivered a sermon in which he thanked Fr. Leonidas for his efforts, presented a letter with prosphora and conveyed blessings and gratitude from Archbishop Paisius.

In the summer of 2002, construction of the bell tower began. In the summer of 2007, the bell tower was completed and the bells were installed. The largest bell weighs 350 kg.

From 2010 to the present, painting of the temple walls has been carried out. Repair and restoration work in the temple is carried out with donations from parishioners, as well as village entrepreneurs. There is a Sunday school at the church. Through the efforts of the rector of the church, Archpriest Leonid Melnik, work continues to improve the territory adjacent to the church.

Since 2008, together with the Dobro Foundation, the parish has been engaged in charity work. Help is provided to low-income and large families. The parish does not ignore orphanages and rehabilitation centers. Educational activities are carried out among young people.

Viktoras Jatsenevičius. A young boy who died heroically in the vicinity of Glazunovka in the years terrible war. He did not die from a shell or a stray bullet. The administrative center is the urban-type settlement of Glazunovka.

Geography

The district is located in the southern part of the region and is the smallest in territory. Area 580.9 km². There are 63 settlements. The main rivers are Oka, Ochka, Neruch, Ruda, Litobezh, Budarin.

Resolution of the head of the administration of the Oryol region dated March 27, 1996 No. 189 on the territory of the Glazunovsky district identified natural monuments and park zones: 4 forest, 2 landscape gardens, 2 hydrological.

Urban settlement Glazunovka - administrative center Glazunovsky district, Oryol region. The village has a railway station on the Kursk - Orel line. This area was inhabited for a very long time - the first settlements date back to the 4th millennium AD. The area that is today Taginsky was originally populated rural settlement. This became known in 1907, after the first detailed survey of the area. In the distant past, many tribes settled here, the number of which constantly grew, which, in the end, led to a constant struggle for seniority. In connection with these events, the area began to be populated by Slavs. One of the proofs that people have lived on the territory of the Glazunovsky district for a long time are traces of a ditch that previously surrounded the fort that was located here. The moat itself can no longer be seen, but its remains are hidden under young greenery and trees to this day.

The modern Glazunovsky district was formed in 1965, and its center - the village of Glazunovka - in 1904 on the site of a railway station. Today, about seven thousand people live in the village; the infrastructure is quite developed here.
